James Hannigan is a BAFTA Award winner with credits in the Harry Potter, Command and Conquer, The Lord of the Rings, Theme Park and Warhammer game series’, and is Co-Founder and Creative Director of GAME MUSIC CONNECT.
Among James’s other credits are Dead Space 3, Transformers Universe, Red Alert 3, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Runescape, Reign of Fire, Space Hulk, Republic: The Revolution, Evil Genius, Grand Prix, Sim Theme Park, various titles in the EA Sports F1 and FIFA range, Chris Roberts’ seminal space sim Freelancer, Terraria: Otherworld and many more. His music is frequently heard in TV and Radio, ranging from BBC America’s Primeval and Top Gear to Radio 4 adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere and Good Omens.
A 2014 Develop Awards Finalist, Hannigan’s awards and nominations also include an IFMCA (International Film Music Critics Association) Award for the score of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and five nominations for Original Music at the BAFTA Games Awards.
In the early years of his career, Hannigan was in-house composer at Electronic Arts Europe, working on EA, Origin and Bullfrog published titles such as Privateer: The Darkening and Theme Park World (BAFTA Award, Audio, 2000). Based for over ten years at Pinewood Studios, he occasionally worked as a sound designer on films such as Lost In Space.
Hannigan has recorded with world-class orchestras such as The Chamber Orchestra of London (COOL), The Philharmonia, the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra at locations such as Abbey Road Studios, Skywalker Sound and Air-Lyndhurst. His music has been performed globally by the likes of Video Games Live and the Eminence Symphony Orchestra and he is a regular interviewee for the BBC, Classic FM, Bafta Guru and others. He occasionally writes on the subject of music in video games – most recently for Classic FM.
